Swansea U3A Shanty singing classes

If you would like to have a go at singing shanties, come along and join us at our University of the Third Age Shanty singing classes. Everybody welcome. We have a terrific mixture of people, from those who have never sung to members of formal choirs such as the Gwalia Singers and the Dunvant Male Voice Choir. Every Tuesday

We had some terrific fun performing to different crowds over the 2024 Christmas and New Year period. We have the most fun when our audience joins in and sing along, which is, of course, exactly what we want to happen.

We sing at the Waterloo Stores, Mumbles regularly. This year we are changing from Mondays to Tuesdays, from 7.30pm. As we have the U3A Shanty class on Monday afternoons, Tuesdays are a little easier for us.

Easter Monday, 21st April

Come and join us in the Woodman pub, Blackpill for a Spring afternoon of Shanties and Sea Songs. We will be singing from 2pm, but come early and have a great lunch from the bar or in the restaurant (booking advised).

31st May and 1st June

Newport, South Wales are due to be holding their first Shanty Festival and we are hoping to be performing several times over the two days. Come along for a great weekend of many different styles of singing and playing shanties.

2nd and 3rd August

Weston Super-Mare Shanty and Folk Festival. We are really looking forward to this event. a new one for us. Besides ourselves, there is a long list of acts, so after you have joined us, there will be plenty more to see and hear.
